Everyone thought the wealthy industrialist Alexander Craven was mad when he disappeared into space on a whim, but the world was shocked when he returned years later in possession of a massive structure of alien origin dubbed 'Sanctum' and preaching about having met a being he called the 'New God.' A subsequent global catastrophe decimated the rest of the world's population. Using the advanced technology aboard Sanctum, Alexander created a stranglehold on those few humans left alive.
Years later, under the heel of an oppressive totalitarian regime headed by the former industrialist, a group of renegades has risen up from the desert wastelands to challenge Sanctum and its people, only to uncover a deeper conspiracy that will shatter all matters of belief regarding humanity and its place in the universe.
